LOS GUSANOS INFORMATIONRumors of Los Gusanos splitting up have been confirmed. CJ Ramone was out of commission for a little while, with a broken hand and ankle, also new drummer Adam "Griff" Griffin left from Los Gusanos (December 1999), so they were looking for a new drummer. Then "Dirty" Ed Lynch (guitarist) left the band and that was it. CJ told that reasons being "too much shit" between record companies and shifting drummers etc. it got to be enough..
That was big shock for me (Jari-Pekka Laitio-Ramone) and to all Los Gusanos fans, I can always member when I got the first Los Gusanos CD from the CJ. Memories never die and songs lives forever. Their debut was a real killer, specially Burnin' and Blue Sky means a lot for me. Sad that never got chance to see them at live, I was trying to get Los Gusanos to the big Finnish festival 1998, but the schedules didn't worked out. Los Gusanos songs lives forever.
Los Gusanos was (late 1999) finished recording some new music. CJ wrote to me on may, 1999 that the working title for this Los Gusanos CD was "Songs From The Big Road".
Here's a list of the songs they had so far: Dust Train, Liams Tree, Let It Go, Golden, Long Gun and Lay Low.
Los Gusanos was recording the cd in California with Chris Goss (Kyuss the Flys Masters of Reality) at his studio in the desert. They started recordings in June. Hopely they would release songs later.

- Me and the rest of Los Gusanos played on the same scene on Long Island. "Dirty" Ed Lynch has been playing bars since he was 13. "Big John" Chadwick is married to my sister and Bo "Lefty" Matheson has been playing the scene as long as I have. We've known each other a long time, told CJ Ramone to me (Jari-Pekka Laitio-Ramone) in 1998.
Los Gusanos released a 7' debut single in 1993, Quick To Cut and in 1994 released their EP, I'd Love To Save The World on 7' vinyl.
Self-titled debut album they first published as a self-published (Subversion Records) way in 1997. In the USA "record label version" was released by Mayhem Records on April 7, 1998. In Europe label was Wowoka Records (France). Album was published also in some other continents.
Style was a bit different than Ramones style, but many fans also like of Los Gusanos.
CJ Ramone: I think we did a good job in the studio trying to capture the live energy. I like the heavier tracks like Dead Man's Curve, Carve Your Name and Go Again, told CJ Ramone to me (Jari-Pekka Laitio-Ramone) in 1998.
Seven years later, in 2005, he mentioned some good comments to me about how much he still likes the album.
Jari-Pekka: As you reflect today what do you find about the Los Gusanos record that you like?
- This was a good record. I still like it. I'm really proud of the lyrics and most of the songs. It was very different than the Ramones and it was way more rock'N'roll than punkrock. Plus, I am proud of the fact that I not only taught myself how to play guitar, but that I did all the rhythm tracks as well as some of the solo tracks on the record too, told CJ to me in 2005 in a interview that was published in Ramones: Soundtrack Of Our Lives.
Los Gusanos recorded the song, No Bone Movies, for the Legend Of A Madman - The Ozzy Osbourne tribute album. Tribute album also has other bands like Solitude Aeturnus, Lethal and Filthboy.

CJ told me also before that he's also produced Blackfire's first EP. They are a Navajo Indian punk-ska band from Flagstaff, Arizona.
